There's no denying that the royals have had an eventful year. From the celebration of Queen Elizabeth's 70th anniversary on the throne, to the passing of the late, beloved monarch this fall, 2022 has been full of bittersweet milestones. Now, Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, are celebrating once more with their first holiday card as the Wales family.

Shortly after William's father became King Charles III, the new monarch announced that William and Kate would officially take on the titles of Prince and Princess of Wales. Since then, George, Charlotte, and Louis have all taken on Wales as a de facto last name at school—just as William himself did as a child. The new card marks the first public missive from the family under their new name.

The card features a newly-released photo of the family taken earlier this year in Norfolk by photographer Matt Porteous.

Last year, the royals shared a sunny portrait from their family trip to Jordan—something of an ode to travel after a long, pandemic-induced period being stuck at their then-home, Anmer Hall, in Norfolk. Earlier this year, the family relocated from Anmer Hall into Adelaide Cottage on the Windsor estate—and a new school for George, Charlotte, and Louis—though they maintained their Norfolk residence as well.
