Charlotte Church recently announced that she and her partner Jonathan Powell have suffered a miscarriage.

The 31-year-old British singer-songwriter shared the heartbreaking news on Monday in a statement posted to her Twitter page. "Charlotte and Jonny are very sad to announce that they lost their baby. Now is a time for grieving and being together as a family," the statement read. "We kindly ask everyone to respect that peace."

The former classical singer had only just revealed her pregnancy to fans in late May, while on stage during a performance for her current tour, Late Night Pop Dungeon. "And now it's great, it's lovely," Charlotte told The Guardian about her latest pregnancy, in an article published May 27. "It feels very different this time around."

The unborn baby would have been Charlotte's third child. She already has two kids, 9-year-old Ruby and 8-year-old Dexter, with her ex, Welsh rugby player Gavin Henson.

Rising to fame as a classical soprano during her preteen years, Charlotte debuted her first album, Voice of an Angel, in 1998. She went on to record four more classical albums before switching to pop music in 2005. Known for hits like "Call My Name" and "Crazy Chick," her most recent record, Four, was released in 2014.
